I found a baby chick in my coop!

yes, i set up a MHP and have layer crumble, water, and I'm scrambling an egg for him... till i can get to the feed store tomorrow.... I'll check around for a nest....
I left them all alone for about 15 minutes just now to see if the hens would come down and they didn't.....

yeah, I was reading all those heat lamp suggestions thinking, wow, people still use those things, LOL :~) MHP is the way to go!!

Are your chickens in a barn that has a loft where there might be a broody on a nest? The little chick may have hatched a day or two before the other eggs in the nest and the broody is still incubating the unhatched eggs.

I would crawl around up in the loft, if you indeed have one, and try to locate a hen on a nest. The chick could have crawled out of the nest and fallen to the ground, unable to get back to the nest. If you find the nest, stick the chick back under the hen.
