I don't want you thinking im pecking on you Coyote but people are the end result of diseases (final host) we aren't usually the carriers...If we were the cause of the disease it wouldn't affect us so bad. As the end host we get the disease WE DIE, other animals including rodents can carry it their whole life with no ill effects... You are right on with the Anti-biotics thou. I rarely got sick as a kid, have NEVER had an infected wound. (Red swelling doesn't mean infected, puss pouring out means infected to me.) I used to treck through local swamps, mountains, deserts etc for days on end as a kid getting cut, scratched, bruised without any adverse affects. Certain people also have better immune systems, thank modern medicine for letting the weaker live and even worse BREED that into more generations. Nothing like selecting recessive genes that hinder the population as a whole!



You did the right thing Silkie, you let nature decide if it lives or dies and what gets to use its resources.... I would have fed that mouse to my fish

Haha... I would have probably fed it to my fish too, or at least tried. I have a green sunfish who spends is day staring at and dreaming about eating his goldfish neighbor, who is maybe 3 inches longer than he is and at least twice his mass. His name is meat fish. I found him in the feeder fish isle

I wish I saw this post earler. That was not a pygmy mouse. I often have baby wild animal brought to me, and have raised a litter pf pygmy mice. That mouse (aka the common house mouse) was probley one 3 weeks old, and still nusing a little. Anyways, thank you for what you have done, and tring to help it. And my guess was it was scared because the chickens may have pecked it.
Do you have any wood on the ground laying flat I mean. I know in the spring I go out on baby control. I leave peices of plywood around in certain places so the mice have somewhere to be safe and have babies, in spring I go and lift them up and check on everyone and sometimes give them a little food.

To me I love mice and rats, and used to breed them. I think rats maybe the smartest critter I have ever owned (and yes I have had dogs). And the way you guys are saying how dirty and useles they are makes me sick. It is a fact that more people die of shark attacks and lighting than get disesas from rodents. I used to think the same way you guys did, but you all need to open your minds, theres more than just sewer rats, and even they are clean and diesaseless. I am 99% sure of myself when I say that in anyones lifetime whose reading this, they will not get a disease from a mouse or rat.

And alos just a FYI, black rats did not cause the bubonic plauge, the FLEAS on the rats did. So thats more to prove my point.

Anyways thats all, this is just a very touchy subject with me, did not mean to offend anyone. And sorry if I did.

And K8tieCat that last time a mouse contributed to socitety was the last one that was injected with CANCER! They get cancer so us selfish humans can learn how to treat it. How about that. I would say thats more than I have ever contributed, and a safe bet more than you too. How about your shampoo, and your shaving cream, shall I go deeper? I am not saying go vegan or what ever, but you need to learn your facts. When you are in line to get injected with cancer, than you can talk all you want.

OH MAN!!!!! Now a mouse thread is going to be locked down because we're arguing about what to do with a harmless mouse. COME ON PEOPLE!!! This thread was going fine but there's always one person that comes in and says something stupid causing everyone else to get ticked. Just stop it. Go somewhere else if you want to argue!!!

This thread was someone asking for help, not your opinion on how "dirty" you think mice are.
