I gave in and started eggs today! Anyone else due around the 13??

I started out with six buff orpington eggs - down to two now, and due on the 11th.

One was infertile, one had a blood ring on Day 3, one died around Day 7 with a detached air sac, and the other one died for unknown reasons also around Day 7. Hoping these last two make it!

I have a bator full of eggs due around that time as well. Button quail (a whole bunch of them) and some blue copper marans and now 7 silkie eggs from eBay. We've had cool summer weather and lots of rain here in KY this year. It has been rather unusual. Here's wishing hatching vibes to everyone hatching in August.

How did I miss this thread??? I'm due on the 13th too! 12 Welsummer eggs from McSpin. It's only my second time hatching and these gorgeous dark speckled eggs are frustrating! I can't see a thing but the air cell.

Howdy Folks,

In my continuing saga of "Life will find a way". I set 18 Barred Rocks eggs last week. My incubator freaked out and I tried to get the temp stable. Overnight last week the bator shot the temp up to 108 degrees. The next morning I was petrified. I knew it was a lost cause. I played with the thermostat for the last week until I got the temps where I wanted them. I used the eggs as a giant heat sink so I could get an accurate reading for the next batch. I have been collecting new eggs since the mishap.
Last night I decided I would candle the cooked eggs before throwing them out. The first egg, I couldn't believe my eyes. I called my daugther in as I thought I was seeing things. She exclaimed "DAD, he is moving!!!"
I thought so too. We candled the rest and I am in AWE. Out of 18 eggs, 12 were swimming around like nothing had ever happened. 5 were not fertile and 1 was questionable. These guys are due Aug. 11th.
The replacements went in a week later, so I have 30 due this month. I need help.

Goes to show you, never give up. They may surprise you.

2 have something in them but aren't as developed as the 1 is.

Had to toss out 2 more, looks like if there was something they were gone early. So out of 7 eggs I have 3 left which considering they were shipped isn't to bad. Keep you fingers crossed for them all.
