I gave my chickens today...........................................

Hi I am new to all this chicken stuff. I keep hearing about giving chickens yogurt....funny question, were do you get this yogurt? is it just regular yogurt?

The plain yogurt that I buy can be found in the dairy with the rest of yogurts. I buy the very large as I have 25 chickens and they fight over it.

oh now sugar in yogurts bad? ive been giving them all the halloween candy my kids got tricker treating!!! i figured they could use the extra calories in the cold!

I cook oatmeal, then cool it down with frozen corn. Then I add raisins (Rocky the roo loves raisins), and then mix in some layer crumbles. I make it wet and sloppy, and they all think that's the best thing in the world!

The problem is, with everything we all are treating our chickens with is expensive if we buy it for that purpose. I try to only buy Black Oil Sunflower seeds and the plain yogurt, the rest are things that we eat ourselves. I guess we have to also worry about them getting fat and lost egg production but mine never seem to get fat. Also, other than the"natural" greens I question if they are getting the nutrients needed for a chicken. Mine would rather eat the fun stuff than the fermented feed or crumbles (much like myself with sweets)! Aren't chickens fun? I've never had a "hobby" that I could just sit and watch and have the best time of my life. Even my husband has come around and loves them too. But he still won't admit it it too many people.

i got a deal on a case of halls cough drops i been feeding the chickens this week. this old guy down the street kicked the bucket and his wife was throwing everything out to move into a assisted living center, well i did some dumpster diving and pulled me up a case of outdated halls!

The chickens LOVE THEM!

should last at least a month!
