I got a pigeon for Christmas

I would start hand feeding him with shelled peanuts (unsalted) or sunflowere hearts as a treat to get him used and more confortable with you. In no time he will be flying to you for attention and the wanted treat. I think one or two hours a day should be adequate. To be honest I never had just one pigeon. I would think a single parrot would also require more attention as well being an intelligent bird also.

First off that's a beautiful bird! As Hokum said, with a single bird it will bond more with it's owner more. I have my guy in a large parrot cage by himself and he'll coo and strut whenever anyone walks up to his cage. With Indian Fantails they're a naturally calm breed so it shouldn't be hard to tame yours down.

i have an american show racer who is naturally friendly and she wont leave your side she brings food to where we eat and she eats on the table with us!!!

I like the second link best mainly because the first link says it is only 6 inches high (unless that is a miss print). Either way it would be best to let him out of the cage for added exercise from time to time the second one says it is 18 inches high which would give him room to flap ..

Drop Dead Gorgeous I might add!!! I fianlly got a line on Indian fantails about 12 hours away from me by car. I was thinking white only but after seeing this guy. I am now undecided??? Where this guy is brown he would throw mainly white if crossed with a pure white. You would have few to compare to him. He is a beautiful bird you must be proud.
