I got a pigeon for Christmas

At least I think its an English fantail pigeon. I've had parrots before, but not doves or pigeons. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

This is about the minimum space needed to accommodate a breeding pair.
The feathers on his head are exactly what that breed displays. Nice looking bird it looks like a male (but I have been wrong before). If it lays an egg it definitely is a female LOL.

My dad was told it was a male, I think. I only have the one. I dont think I am going to breed him. For now he is just a pet.

Whats the downside to him being alone? Its not really going to be possible to get another one, at least for a while. I dont want to keep him if its going to be bad for him to be alone.

If you have a pet pigeon, keeping a single one can increase your bond, and help you bond with any others you purchase later as well, not to mention decrease costs. Because of the time commitment, keeping a single pigeon is not for everyone,

How much time should I be spending with him? I read somewhere he should spend 1-2 hours a day out of his cage. He is somewhat aggressive, also.
