I'm Cherokee and Choctaw Indian, and I don't believe I would have done it any differently. I would have taken their tails though, and made a nice hat or something
I don't lock my birds up for nothing, and do not plan on allowing predators to take them. Coons are cute, but they are ruthless and destructive and they are wasteful! They will kill your entire flock whether they intend on eating them all or not.
Congratulations! Glad to hear those pests are no longer around to bother your flock.
I trapped a smaller one last night. Tonight I got a big one. He enjoyed marshmallow for his last meal. Traps are still set. May have more in the morning.
I probably don't even need to say this but I am. I'm not into killing just like a lot of other folks. But I do love venison. Some of the best meat I've ever had. To kill a deer is not an enjoyable thing to me. Still the results is fantastic. But that said I do know a bird of prey is on the protected species list of our beloved government. So are some land creatures. I had a mountain lion on my place one morning. I called everybody I knew to, and was told to call the DNR. I did and was told I needed to understand the mountain lion was protected and it was against the law for me to harm them. I told the agent we need to have an understanding. If me, my wife, my animals, and or anything else on my place was in danger that cat will die, law be darn. He said I can understand that. So in fulfilling the God given obligation as the protector on my "flock", that I will do, just as you did. You done good.
I just wondering why PITA hasn't gotten into this? They're such a "loving" bunch.
