I GOT MY FIRST EGG YESTERDAY but....... im confussed>?

my RIR started at 21 weeks..skipped a week....then started laying a few then skip a day....now she lays every day..i never got small eggs from her..every egg as been the same size and color.

I got my first egg on 9/10 , then she took a day off and since then I have been getting one little pullet egg a day.
Today I went up to the coop again later in the afternoon and to my suprise there was a second egg, unfortunatly it was broken and I think that they picked at it.
It was on the floor in the coop not the nestboxes. I am sure it was a second hen starting to lay and I am hoping that it was only an accident that it broke.
I guess I will see this weekend if I am going to have a "egg-eating" problem.

I have 4 comets the first of which started laying about a week ago. I now get 3 eggs a day and today I got the first "adult" sized egg. I figure that is about normal. Still have 3 SS, two RIR and a WR that are the same age that haven't come on line yet.

There is not a bird that lays every day all year. There is a lot of debate on the subject but personally I would not keep a light on them 24/7. Just like humans they need their rest. Without it their immune systems will suffer. They may lay more now but won't lay as long. Keep the light on in your bedroom 24/7 for a month and see how you like it.

I have 9 sex links, 1 EE (I think). I got my first egg on 9/9 and then 1 on 9/11 and then 1 on 9/15 and on 9/16 a soft shell in the am and a good 1 in the afternoon and today I got 1 that I'm pretty sure is from the EE. How long until I will have a more consistent laying???

yeah, when I wrote this thread, the next day I got a egg when I got anoter the next and yesterday I diddent get one. Now im waiting to see if I get one

Btw my RIR is the one laying too I saw her sing the egg song and everything!
