Came home from college, and my goose laid her first egg. Perfect timing for my first breakfast home! (At school, we don't have real eggs for breakfast. they come from a carton.

) Now, we definitely have 2/5 laying (got another egg this morning). We know that Luna (Luno??), our toulouse, is a boy. All of our chinese may be girls, though. They're a lot calmer and don't screech like he does, so we're hoping..

Anyways, SO EXCITED ABOUT THE FIRST EGG!

These girls were hatched in late August. I look forward to many scrambled goose eggs for my spring break breakfasts. Yummy.

Also, has anyone whose eaten them before realized how fast they cook?!

That is awesome news! Glad you've got a gander in the bunch. I have six eggs in the bator. I just sent six to someone who has them in the bator and I'll be sending out six more tomorrow.

So glad yours are doing well! I'm thinking I may have to fire up my never-been-used-christmas-present brinsea eco to um.. "check fertility"? Hopefully I can try and hatch some geese right after I get out from school, but we already paid for 10 cotton patch goslings from Tom Walker.

I always thought they took longer to fry than store chicken eggs. The yoke and white both stand proud on a fresh goose egg therefore thicker and take longer to cook. If scramblled they took about as long as 3 chicken eggs,

Hmm. Ours was a chinese egg and it cooked quicker than I've ever seen a chicken egg cook. It was scrambled, but small. Weird? I'll test it out again tomorrow.

My female goose died last year so I only have the gander. One of the many reasons I liked the goose is because of her eggs, cooked for breakfast and wonderul in cakes and breads....I also had ducks and omg, their eggs were not good to eat, they tasted like the pond...but the goose was wonderful. I will get some more geese this spring. What a nice surprise to have when you got home.

Today, we got two goose eggs. One from the first layer, we believe, and another new layer. 3/5 females, yay!

Weird thing though.. The egg that was collected yesterday didn't have a fully hard shell. It was kind of like a turtle egg. All the other eggs are okay, and the second egg from one female was huge!

D'Angelo - Sorry about your goose. Hope you can find some geese! No one should be deprived of goose eggs.
