I hatched some chicks from a leg horn and black Ameraucana….

Mom for both roosters was from a leghorn…dad was a black ameraucana (he was huge, his genetics breed big roosters!)
The first three pics is my youngest rooster. He has blue legs pink feet. He has thick feathers like an ameraucana and little puffy cheeks like an ameraucana and a pea comb… He kind of reminds me of a splash ameraucana.


The other rooster has more yellow legs like an leghorn. He has the looks of a leghorn minus his pea comb.

I just think it’s kind of fascinating how they can be so different but from the same line…

What do you think… I want to call the first one an Easter egger but I don’t know what gene he Carries for eggs…

I don't know what to call him but the first one is really nice looking, I'll bet he's going to be impressive when he's fully grown. Hope you post more pictures later, I'd love to see how he turns out.

Thank you! Tonight was the first night I actually looked him over. (I have so many chickens right now because I’m rotating my flock) so I didn’t get a look at him…mom just let these chicks be independent now. I do not really like that other rooster, he’s going to be rehomed in September, I am a sucker for ameraucanas!!!

I think a dark legged roo over light legged hens makes sex links. Females have dark legs and males have light legs. Cute little boogers either way!

He is an Easter Egger, regardless of what color egg gene he carries. Some EE lay pink/ brown eggs, they are still EE. How is this boy turning out now that he is a little older? He looks very handsome at this age.
