Just cuz...(PS I picked up some organic nice kefir - MMMMMM! I hope it's doing it's job - they stuffed me full of Levaquin of all things during and after surgery. Ugh.)

Is your knee the only problem? If so, do upper body work, ab crunches or something along the lines of that. Anything to get your heart rate up. Yes, you can't yet do the traditional "workouts" but you can easily do upper body workouts or stretches or crunches.

I was always skinny all my life.....then I went on some medicine that made me gain weight and i"m older now anyways, so just gained weight. I gained almost 50lbs in 1 year. I haven't had much luck losing it....because I eat so badly

High stress job, always in a hurry. I tried weight watchers for 2 weeks and didn't lose an ounce. Yes, 2 weeks isn't long but I sure should have lost SOMETHING.

Recently I've started trying to save money....so rather than eating fast food every day (gee I wonder why I didnt lose weight), I have been eating the healthy choice steamers for lunch everyday, along with a lean pocket for breakfast. I haven't started my exercise plan yet....however I've lost about 5lbs, just doing that. I've been eating "whatever" for dinner, but have cut down my fast food consumption almost completely.

Next step is to use the new elliptical for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. I think that will help. My knee has been bothering me quite a bit the last few months and so I've kind of used that as an excuse not to exercise.I need to get it together!

Well, I do have one thing going for me. The week before surgery I quit drinking pop completely (I was a Dt Mt Dew addict). Four 20oz a day.

I gained 5 pounds by the end of that week.

I might have to try something like the Atkins thing...and find a way to incorporate a LOT of eggs in my diet maybe - considering they're free! I usually have an egg on toast for breakfast....

My shoulders are also fairly junky but I could do light weights with them. I'd have to find where DH put the weights....and remember the different exercises LOL!

I so wish I had a working body....

My only complaint against Atkins is the induction phase. There is often no reason to go down to 20g carbs/day. If you keep the carb intake around 50g/day it works great for most people.

High fructose fruit is no better than candy. Berries are the best. Treat all other fruits like they ARE candy and use them occasionally. More veggies (NOT STARCHES like corn and potatoes...ACTUAL VEGGIES like kale, cauliflower, etc..) is a good thing.

Fruit does have more nutrients that candy.

Usually 2 servings of fruit a day is plenty.

I had to laugh at
NOT STARCHES like corn and potatoes

There is so many times at a resturant where I say no pototoe, just an extra veggie and they come out with corn.

So who wants to come over here (through the 8" of snow that just came in the last 6 hours) and be my personal food advisor person? I can cook it, you just have to show me what I can have and when
