I hate diets.

Thanks!

Most of the "toss it" will be tossing more to my husband. I already had to yell at him yesterday to eat the darn cookies already - or I would.

I'll check out the steel cut Irish Oats and try that out - might be a good way to get oatmeal into DH in the morning. I'm a weird one though - I like cold oatmeal that's been "milked" down a bit.

I've been considering making my own mayo - because I like it

Would that be a good move? I use it in making egg salad, chicken salad, tuna salad etc....

Salami and pepperoni aren't the greatest because there are fillers, but they are ok on occasion. Try and see if after eating these you tend to retain water. If you do, just don't buy more after this is gone.

Oatmeal is very carby. I would feed that to my animals. If you decide you can't live without oatmeal, you need to get steel cut Irish oats and prepare them like this...

Tortilla chips...toss em. Not only are they carby as all get out, they most likely contain GMO corn.

Split pea soup...a little carby but high in nutrition. I eat it occasionally.

American Cheese....low in carbs but highly processed. Your call but I don't eat it anymore.

Mayo...uses soy oil. Toss it.

ketchup...if it contains high fructose corn syrup...toss it.

soy sauce...if it is fermented, it is fine.

X2

Store Canned:
black beans
kidney beans
spinach
peas
mushrooms

Canned foods has much higher levels of sodium and potassium to sodium ratio is all messed up. Toss it or send to to a food bank.

Pick up some coconut oil if they have some. It is great for high temp cooking and very healthy.

Anything with HFCS or artifical sweeteners needs to avoided or thrown out.

im trying to lose 16 pounds before summer just got me a treadmill and its...so....BOREING! since th treadmill is super ehavy and our house is kinda small it had to go in my bedroom (aka the basement) where i have nothing but a radio but darn an hour a day just watching the wall boreing!
have you thought at all about getting a video game console? youd be suprised at how little you want food when your playing a really engrossing game! and you dont hav to do alot ive gone 7 hours of not eating a thing when i was playing simpley becuase i didnt pay attention.

I got my membership at the Y so I really need to get back on track here. Wifezilla got me started on it, and I lost at least six pounds and fell off the wagon again and again. Then I 've had surgeries and more steriods, more weight gain. UGH! Mom doesn't help either, with the temptations with chocolate and sweets she keeps bringing it over. I've got a mind to toss things to bring home in the garbage or feed it to the squirrels if they incline to eat sweets.

I have gone from size 8 to size 5 so far.I am on a gall stone diet.

I am told

DO NOT OVEREAT

DO NOT EAT UNDER STRESS

EAT ONLY FRESH FOODS -
DO NOT EAT PACKAGED FOODS

Foods to Avoid:

Foods that will cause gallstones typically are any foods that are from animal or animal-based foods. Here is a list of high risk foods to avoid: fast foods, oily foods, spicy foods, red meats, eggs, pork, onions, fowl, milk, corn, beans and nuts.

And a million other things I can not eat.I acually have 2 list on my fridge one what to eat and what to aviod.

I love my steaks, isn't it that bad? Grilled or baked or broiled would be better???? For tacos I would make it on the cast iron pan, with some olive oil. For some reason chicken and pork really give me the trots bad. I don't know why but beef, bacon and fish are the meats I can eat without a problem. Grilled chicken is good to a point.

Yes I LOVE salads but I have to have my dressings on the side, so instead of pouring it on, I would dip my fork and I would get the taste and imagine how much dressing left over in the package or container!!!! I used a 1/4 of the paper cup than the whole thing.

Now what do I use for wraps? And my favorite, sausage and egg muffin sandwiches and BLT's. If I was to cut out bread, what would I subsitute? Lettuce? Tortilla wraps?

Now I love my Greek yogurt in the mornings with fresh or frozen fruits.

I guess I have to thin out my canned goods which I don't have a whole lot.

I don't think I could do such a low protein diet as the gallstones diet - especially with the healing from the surgery. I need as much protein I can get to knit things back up!

I'd too want to figure out what to sub out for bread. I like sunny side eggs with a slice of toast for dipping

All of the tuna/chicken/egg salad I make, I'm perfectly happy to eat out of a bowl, or use veggies to scoop up and eat (like celery - celery makes a good spoon.)

I made mayo last night, to start cracking down on soy (which I know doesn't like me. No soy based meat subs for me, unless I want to feel completely miserable.) I wish I had started that before! SO easy! I added some dill from the plants I have hanging dry in the backroom, and it's delicious and so good!

I don't have a gym membership, but if I want one, my work has a deal with a nearby large complete gym for $37/month membership. My best friend also works there, and would probably work something even cheaper out. However, no pushing things until healed, and no swimming until the hole is completely closed and we know the scar won't reopen (I have a problem with large wound healing, my body forgets to make skin after laying the first layer down.)

I think I ate well yesterday for low carb. I've been "snacking" on a beef roast I made earlier in the week, so when I want some, I cut off about an ounce and nibble on it. I ate about probably 6 ounces all day on it. I also had dry roasted peanuts, about 2 ounces total. Lunch was a giant fritatta of bacon, mozz, spinach and mushrooms with 6 eggs - which I ate 1/6th of, the rest is in the fridge. Dinner was a large fillet tilapia with my mayo and extra basil in it, broiled, and about 1 cup of cauliflower cooked and mashed in chicken broth I made (nothing added, just chicken and water all day in a crockpot). Added some mozz to that as well. Had a serving of kefir with dinner. I had another small piece of fritatta (maybe 2oz total) a bit after dinner.

I will start doing more dried beans - that's all I use for soup, but usually used the canned for chili. I can't see why I treat it differently, but who knows! It's not like dried beans are that expensive

At the risk of being clubbed to death because I KNOW lots do not agree with my philosophy of eating, I offer the formula that helped me peel off 60 lbs and keep it off for more than 10 years now. I am a diabetic and you know how totally weight affects your blood sugar! So I absolutely HAD to get rid of the pounds, but the diets the docs gave me either made me sick or added even more pounds. Soooo...I made my own and it works for me. Maybe this philosophy of eating will help you.

Breakfast is a big bowl of Cheerios with fat-free milk.

For dinner (what most call lunch) I take the biggest bowl in my kitchen and chop/slice/peel every raw vegetable I can find--whatever is in season or growing in my garden. I dowse it with my own homemade dressing (olive oil, wine vinegar, oregano, garlic powder (not garlic salt), pinch of sweet'n low that I keep steeping in the frige). I add a protein like steak, hamburger patty, a chicken breast. I often add a hardboiled egg. I drink tea sweetened with sweet'n low.

Supper is another big salad, 2 cooked veggies, another protein like steak or roast or meatloaf, and a cup of a starch like macaroni, noodles, potato, or corn.

Snack before bed is crackers topped with a slice of cheese (usually Colby or Cheddar) --OR-- sugar free jello (gelatin or pudding, my choice).

Notice that except for the starch, there are no quantities listed. That's because I eat as much as I want. I drink my sweet tea all day long. Kidney stones are an issue with me if I don't drink enough, so I average a gallon a day. There is NO sugar in my tea. I sweeten it artificially. Also note that I don't generally eat bread, chips, cake, candy, cookies. I make my own noodles from scratch using my own eggs. Sometimes for supper I make quiche, but within the supper guidelines, using the eggs for my protein source, my 2 veggies inside, and the crust for my starch.

Yes, this really is eating to a formula, but that makes it easy to know what to eat and when to eat it. Hope something in here is helpful for you.

Look at this photo of me. On the left is when I used to eat cereal with skim milk. On the right, bacon and eggs. You decide.

There are very specific biological reasons a person gains weight. Insulin and blood glucose is your main driving factor especially since insulin is a fat storage hormone. Keep your insulin and blood sugar low and your body can actually get the trapped fat out of the cells. Cereal is a sure way to spike your blood sugar and flood your body with insulin.

To truly understand the biological functions that lead to weight gain, get a copy of WHY WE GET FAT AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT by Gary Taubes or go to Hulu and watch the documentary FATHEAD. (free)
