I totally agree with Wifezilla....Low-Carb is the way to go, it is not really a diet and you are not cutting out all carbs...just the ones that increase your waistline!

When I first started going low carb, I cut out coffee creamer (I still drink it black), potatoes(ate a salad instead with real dressing), pasta, bread, anything with flour, sweets and my biggest downfall BEER! Not only did I lose tons of weight, but I had more energy and I was not hungry all the time.

I still have french fries when I want them.....which is about once every blue moon, and I will eat a slice of sourdough with dinner every once in awhile...not often, I even had a couple of beers during the Superbowl....I stick to Captain Morgan mostly if I want a drink!

I have found for myself that by limiting my carb intake I fell satisfied longer and tend to eat less calories. Its a style of eating...not a diet!

Well....stepped on the scale today and no movement....however, finally my jeans on (with the bum knee and bandages, track pants are my friend). Lo and behold, they slipped right on, and no fighting to button! WOOOOOO! I can do this!!!

Yay! Congrats! The jeans are always a better indicator than the scale.

Another low-carber here. I'm one of the ones who needs to keep it very low carb to keep the weight down. But low-fat didn't work for me at all and it sure is a lot easier to snack on a deviled egg than a rice cake.

I've been making dinner easy too - I make a meat and a veg side that is low carb, and then make a starch. DH now knows the starch is ALLLLL his, and that I get extra veg or a little extra meat so he can't hog all of it.

Tonight is pork loin roast and roasted asparagus. DH and DD also get Stove Top stuffing, which actually isn't tempting me much. The asparagus is more nummy! I adore roasted/broiled/grilled asparagus.

I found that really helps - if I make a veg side that really is something I would like, then I don't miss the starch that DH wants.

Go ahead and rant...

I was praying about the same thing, and I felt the urge to raise chickens. This is the thing I personally needed to get off my rear-end and go outside.

Heh, knee, again. Blew one of the ligaments from the July surgery, so we did some tendon grafting work using some of my quad tendon. So far so good! He also took some major measures to prevent hematomas and infection. Hopefully this is it for a few years!!!

I just put some olive oil on fresh asparagus with the bottom ends cut off (I like to just put them in a big baggie and add some olive oil, and roll them around in there). Put on a sheet pan, and sprinkle whatever on it, lightly. I like to put some Parmesan cheese on them first, not a ton, but a little, and some salt. I was cooking the pork at 350, so I just put the top rack in the oven, and stuck the asparagus there. Took about 10 mins maybe, just so the bottoms are "stabbable" with a fork.

They are SUPER yummy that way - very nutty and a different species than the canned kind. They come out a deep/bright green.

Of course, then your pee smells bad!

Oh, I have a smart hubby. He's not EVER said a word about my weight, no matter what I say. I also make sure to not ask him questions I don't want to know (aka the "does my butt look fat?")
