I will probably get beat up over this one......but sometimes buyers don't see things from a sellers point of view.
We never filed for shipping charges if the birds arrived late the first 2 years we shipped live birds....live or not we were just glad we had the opportunity to share our birds with other people across the US.
Then about 3 months ago I had a guy email me that his birds were 4 hours late.....(they made it next day mind you) and he wanted a refund on his shipping. I thought he was being a little out of line, after all the ducks did make it to him next day and alive. I reluctantly went to the post office and got a refund.
Then I thought.....Ok, we either refund or send replacements if one of our birds don't make it. Although it doesn't happen often, we have lost a few chicks and a few call ducks in shipping....all of those boxes were either delivered on time or a little late.
Sorry this is getting long.....
So is that person entitled to a refund of shipping and free birds if the box was late? How about the box that wasn't late but had a dead duck in it? I have seen boxes of live birds sitting in the back of the post office in full sun waiting to be loaded. That will kill an adult bird in 80* weather.
So what I am saying is I don't think it is wrong of me to start getting refunds on shipping if the box is late to off set some of the money lost with dead birds.....if I guarantee alive birds I don't think I am entitled to issue refunds on shipping if the bird makes it alive and healthy.....
out of 20 boxes shipped I only have 1 maybe 2 that don't make it on time. If a post office employee sets my $200 pair of call ducks in the sun and leaves them for dead I am out $200 ducks plus new shipping charges.
