If I have to pry my two drakes apart one more time from fighting I'm going to rip my hair out!! they need get on with eclipse molting lol.

My 2 drakes are now 5 years old, so they are slightly less randy, fortunately they have 10 girls to take care of. And the drakes really do watch over the girls.

But I did scream at them for a few years.

I found out I have one mallard drake and 2 khaki drakes with 5 girls so the 2 khakis are gonna find a new home.

My boys are 4 this year and this has been their worst year yet for some odd reason lol. It's my 2 drakes and then the chickens and all they really want to do is run halfway at a chicken and then my little mallard latches onto my khaki and wont let go. Hes honestly like a snapping turtle and then it turns into a biting match after a few minutes. Then they go back to loving each other like nothing happened once I pry them apart heres to hoping 5 is the lucky year they calm down! Lol

I sit and watch my flock of 10 a lot every day. They are all together in the run. I've got one drake who mostly hangs with his 2 girls that are his hatch mates. Then I've got another drake who's older who hangs with the 6 older girls.

Naturally, the drakes only want to mate with the girls that aren't in their "crew". But, when they start to the other drake from the opposite team comes over and knocks him off the girl. So far it's working pretty good. None of the girls are getting beat up this year like they did last year.
