Either way you sound like a really sensitive, caring person . . . but keep in mind that the egg is not itself a living creature,
just the raw materials that allow another creature to flourish. That creature might be a chick if the egg were fertilized, or
it can just as well be you, since you provide the care that allows the hen to produce that egg. I sometimes hesitate to
use my eggs only because I find them so beautiful, it seems a shame to break them open! That's why I have almost
3 dozen in the fridge right now. But there's a quiche in my future!
