I have a couple of d'uccle questions. Can someone help please?

I just got chicks from My Pet Chicken. They insisted I order a minimum of six. I got six and one died two days later.

They refused a refund because we didn’t apply for it soon enough, I.e. as soon as we saw the chick was weak. And we had to have applied right then, not a week after the chick died. Confusing. (So because I don’t want to play that again I cancelled a future order I had with them. I’ll look locally.)

One of my chicks is supposed to be a roo. We’ll see. The remaining five are healthy and active.

ETA: Mine are d’Uccles Millefleur. We’ll see how their feathering turns out. They do have feathery feet which are too cute!

I found them on a local Facebook group. She was asking $4 each but will take $20 for all 6.

The hen in that picture is mixed too. They could be mixed with another d'uccle variety, like self blue or white (both of which are recessive) or another similar breed like cochins.

The hen is not the mom. She is in the bottom of the photo. The lady hatched both mom and dad in an incubator. She ordered the eggs.

Assuming that one of the rooster's parents is mille fleur, with a mille fleur hen he should produce 50% mottled chicks (normal mille fleur) and 50% non-mottled (like him).

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Still not sure about getting them though. With the previous advice I am worried.
