I let my pure African geese hatch some eggs this spring. Yesterday they started to hatch, and I got a baby that is PURE WHITE and is shaped differently than it's siblings. My geese also live with my runner ducks, and one of my female geese always mates with a white runner drake. I know that it came out of a goose egg because we had to help it out a bit. I present to you.............goose duck!!you

That´s a dear little gos! Post it on the african thread, they´d love to see it!

Yes, it is a white african!!! This is a color mutation, and this gosling is leucistic. This breed is rare, so you are very lucky.

Is leucism genetic in geese? I breed reptiles too, so I am familiar with the gene, but I also know it reacts differently with different species.

Just about anything can be leucistic. All it is is a color mutation like albino, but the difference is, albino creatures have no pigmentation gene, therefore they have no color. Leucistic creatures have a mutated pigmentation gene, so it gives them a white pigment and blue eyes. This is why some humans have blue eyes.
