ok i have been wondering for a while seince i have come onto this site when people say about sending there roosters to freezer camp. I am pretty sure I know the answear but just to clarfy do you put a live rooster in the freezer and thats how they become dinner? is this a nicer way of making them dinner then trying to um you know the chooping block.

I am such a city girl I dont condem anyone who is able to kill there own food my uncle raises rabbits and chickens for that reason but for me as far as I am concered meat comes from a store. if I see the face i can not enjoy the taste

Lol, it's a less graphic way of saying they'll be sent to the chopping block, not putting an alive roo in a freezer.

Ummm... I've always had turkeys until a couple of days ago.. so I've mainly hung out on the turkey forum. However.. I just got silkie chicks so I was browsing around.. and, although I am not in the chicken section often.. I'm pretty sure I can answer this one. Nobody (I sure hope!!!) puts a live chicken in the freezer to kill them. That is terrifying and LESS humane and I'm pretty sure it would be bad for the meat quality. When anyone says they're thinking about sending their bird to freezer camp... it's a joke. If it's a meat bird... they might actually kill it and then it will be dressed and the meat will be stored in the freezer... but they don't mean they'll actually just toss the live bird in the freezer.

That is probably the cutest question I've seen on here. "Freezer Camp" indicates that the bird will be harvested for food.

so glad as i look at my girls and that though of getting put into a cold freezer and having the door shut and sitting there in the dark cold i thought was a nighmear i mean i know they would slowly go to sleep but glad to hear no chick has to go through that. sadly that is what they do with feed rats and mice that you buy frozen

Actually you are incorrect in regards to how they kill rodents for reptile food. While I am sure there are some very immature and cruel people who do this will all kinds of animals, the VAST majority of rodents are simply gassed in a CO2 chamber and then frozen for reptile food.

I beg you to please get the facts correctly before you start spreading them. As a "member" of the reptile community, we already get enough of a bad reputation. The last thing we need is people to incorrectly tell how the reptiles food are processed.
