I HAVE A PIP! Silkied Ameraucanas & Wheaton Marans, New Picts 2-6.

Dang, I wanted to see a pic of some silkied Ameraucanas.

congrats on the Marans.

Does a silkied ameraucana mean a mix of silkie and ameraucana? If thats it, than between the fifteenth of february and the 19th, I might be hatching some. I'll try to post some pics....

Thanks, Randy, for allowing me to test hatch your eggs! Obviously, they are fertile. AND, they travel well! It is just great to have them! Thanks again!

Good luck to you with your flock, and future plans with them. It sounds like you have worked very hard, to get to this point with them. I am just thrilled to have these 6!

I incubate in a Sportsman, and then transfer over to a HovaBator for the hatch. So far, that has been working pretty good for me. I do dry hatch, as well. I run my humidity at 30 - 35% for incubation, and 60 - 65% for the hatch.

My electricity just got turned back on. We kept blowing fuses in the Breeder Barn, and the electrician had to replace the fuse box with a breaker box. Power has been off for about 2 hours. I sure hope it doesn't affect the ones I have in the incubators right now. I have some BBS Orps and Turkens due tomorrow!

I was so hoping the silky feathered , splash ameraucanas would make it and get started on an outcross . If my memory serves me , this is the second and more probably third successve breeding of brother to sister [ taking into account the original pair may have been siblings from a brother/sister pair that were split for silkie ] . Hopefully there will be a successful outcross to add some vigor , although it wouldn't be fair to blame their failure to hatch on inbreeding problems .

Congrats on the WMs , and hope you get another chance on those silkie feathered birds .

First of all .... Alice, I have no problem with Tanichca asking and discussing in this thread. Tanichca, I would like to thank you for that kind offer, to post pictures of your hatch! That is so sweet of you!

Second .... Here is the first family portrait of the Wheaton Marans. Still not quite fluffed up ... A picture tomorrow will look much nicer!

Just like kids, if one isn't moving ...

Thank you all, for the kind thoughts.

Yup, it was a tough loss. The first time I have ever had a 0% hatch. It's just so difficult to figure why, since the Marans were set side by side with them, and they hatched!

Darn it.

Well, must move on. I am still smiling though ... as I do have the 3 I hatched last week!

That's 1 more than Julie had to start with, and I can work with that! I'm excited to work on this project!

Thanks again to you all!
