I have a sick chick with eye shut, swollen under it's eye, and hoarse sounding.

this is coccidosis, use CORID. it's the only Med that kills ALL strains of cocci. get it fast! you may have to give Corid mixed into the water with a dropper, like eye dropper or syringe if they aren't drinking! be careful not to get in lungs if you must do this. but if they aren't drinking you have to administer it some how. get the corid ASAP! time is of essence! best wishes

Yes, the corrid worked. Everyone is doing fine now. I hatched most of these babies myself except for my freedom rangers from mcmurray. I lost 8 altogether but consider that minimal compared to what it could have been. Even a baby that was pooping practically straight blood is doing well. They have two more days on meds and then I will disinfect my nursery. Do I need to treat the ground under my brooder? I really appreciate all your help. God Bless.

How long do I need to keep them isolated before they are no longer contagious to new birds? I have new hatches coming up and I plan on keeping them in house until all danger is past. What do you think?
