I have a toothache!

Root canals are no big deal. The only one that had me kind of worried was when I was in Ecuador. Getting a root canal in any third world country is always a bit intimidating. Luckily the dentist, Lia Loor known as the root canal lady, knew some English and had trained at a real good South American dental academy. My cost for the entire root canal? $150.00 and that was because I was a gringo and they like to mark things up for us. I later found out that a lot of Americans with contacts in South America will fly down for a vacation and get dental work performed because it is so much cheaper.

My new dentist is commonly referred to as my new BFF. He has class 7 federal firearms license (a manufacturing license) and pays the class 2 SOT (Special Occupation Tax). He does all firearm transfers for free (plus the $10.00 NICS fee) and sells guns at cost (plus the $10.00 NICS fee and sales tax). There's something to be said for going to the dentist and getting to hold a sub machine gun while sitting in the dentist chair.

Kinda makes you think of the Old West Dentist where those men did everything from shoe your horse to birth your kid.

Yes, the pain is definitely diminished. I go tomorrow at 12:15. Oh boy! Can't wait!

Thanks for asking.

Dang it I have to have a root canal on #15 which aleady has a crown. I've a had root canal done before on another molar but apparently this tooth will require a specialist. At least this dentist gave me pain meds and antibiotics. Last time nothing was prescribed and the tooth abscessed which caused so much swelling I nearly had to be intubated so I could breathe. Not to mention the pain was unbearable.

Oh well, the LoriTab is taking away the pain.

Wish me luck!

I'll say a prayer. There is nothing quite like a toothache, especially one that has abscessed!

Good luck, 'chick! There really is nothing much worse than a toothache, but you'll be fine. Thank goodness for insurance.

Just don't do what I did, many years ago; I needed two root canals and got them done. (With financial help from a parent). I was due to come back in a couple of months to get the temporary fillings/crowns replaced....well, I didn't have insurance or the money to pay for the rest of the treatment so I skated by several years.

When said teeth started crumbling and I went back in to see what could be done...guess what? Extraction was the only option, and another one of my teeth was in such bad shape they said that one had to go as well. Imagine the horror.

Luckily they were my back molars, and noone could see the missing spaces, since I had to wait 6 months for the sockets to heal, and then I had to go through several surgeries, and several thousand dollars (we had to take out a home equity loan) to place implants, which are steel posts, in my jaw.

Talk about painful, to my body and my wallet.

But needless to say, I take obsessively good care of my teeth now, and my dentist and his assistants all say I am their very favorite patient, and they aren't kidding. They do rock-paper-scissors to see who gets to take care of me when I come in, because I'm always happy to be there and love to chat with them. They say most of the other patients are just grumpy and mean.

Oh, and my dentist isn't the one who did the implants, so he doesn't just love me for my money. (Heehee)...

Best of luck tomorrow, and let us know how it went!

I'm kind and gentle. I hope I go fast like that!!!!

Oh, and BTW... believe it or not, it happens to the best of us. I go in next Wednesday for lucky #13.... and then dear brother will put a crown on for me.
