I am sorry this has happened MP. It really makes me sad that 95 lives were lost because of a couple of incompetant people along the ways.

I know they are only chickens, and that is what we raise them for. But, to die a needless death at such an early age is %^*%#&))&^.

At least when I get to the point of processing my first batch, it will be hard to do, but I will be thankful for each and everyone of those birds and the sacrifice that they made. I guess I have gotten soft in my old age, and I respect life in a totally different way than I did when I was young. It makes me sad to even see an animal on the road that has been hit by a car. It's all needless.

Hope it works out, and that McMurray will right the situation.

I am so sorry you got a box of death! It is hard not to get discouraged when that happens. I must admit that since I received mine (not only was it late but PO also wrapped in plastic, sealed plastic, to keep it dry during Ike. They do not understand "Live") I have yet to order anything but eggs since then.

I try to reassure my self and say what are the odds of it happening two times....but I have yet to do it.

I am sitting here just sick for you...that had to be HORRIBLE opening up that box....*tears* That is just heart breaking. I've read several complaints about MH lately and don't buy from them...the UPS is to blame as well...it's just awful...So sorry!!!

Missy Prissy i am sooo sorry this happened to you. Those poor babies didn't deserve to die. It is disgusting how bad things were handled between the USPS and the hatchery. I know there is no way to make it right on their part but they better at least give you a full refund and then some! My heart aches for those poor little babies and i wish you the best of luck with many thoughts and prayers for the remaining survivors

MY heart goes out to you. I received mine late and know how it feels to watch little ones die in your hands. It is very hard to know what route to go anymore. Maybe someone on here can hatch you a batch that are close enough for you to get them.
I know it has solidified my desire to have speckled hen hatch me some next spring. Hear that cyn. I want delawares and blue orps. I'll get back with you soon. Jean

This stinks, but like everything else it comes down to money, if THEY(meaning the hatcheries) charge you for tracking, it may be the difference between you going with them or thier competitor, that doesnt track either. THEY gaurantee live arival, and if enough didnt make it they will send out new birds. 65 cents(I think that is what tracking costs) multiplied by thousands of shipments per week, and this is the first time in 20 years this has happened to you.

. In thier mind(checkbook) they are still ahead in the game. Think of all the other orders that did not get lost they can resend yours, or refund your money, they will not even notice one person ordering from them(or couple thousand if everyone at BYC decides not to support them over this which by the way BYC wont, they too will order from closests or cheapest, after all how many others have had wonderfull experience with them and not been disapointed)

Again sorry MP that this happened, but think of all those that have had no problems for years, and all the years you had no problems with them. I guess I would say ask yourself why you went with them in the first place, best cost? closest hatchery to you? best results with feed to meat ratio?

I could say same thing about USPS, but your sorta over a barrel since they are the only method of shipping birds offered, so till that changes you are sorta stuck with USPS, or local pickup.

I was told by my post office that those chicks should have nevr been shipped or accepted by the recieving PO as a priority post. The chicks shoudl have been sent by express mail only. It is a failure of not only the PO but also McMurray.

When I called this morning and refused any BS the woman told me 'obviously you are misinformed and have no experience with chickens.' I was so fuming mad it was all I could do to hold my tongue. If I had thought to get her name I would send this box addressed to her and let her deal with the little bodies.
