I hope you get them soon and they are all healthy.

Our post office is worthless. However, the post office I live nearest is great! We have a PO Box there and have our mail sent there instead of home. They put extra tape on packages if they think it isn't taped enough and lots of little things like that.

They said I could knock on the side door to get chicks before they open and that there is usually someone there by 6:30. But, they also said no reason to rush if I didn't want as they enjoyed listening to them!

I can't say enough good about this post office nor describe how terrible the other one is.

I have N.O.T.H.I.N.G Good to say regarding USPS today or this month..Hopefully by next month I will. If not I'm going to pay every extra cent to have everything shipped by a different carrier....

Sorry your chicks are lost MP. Two weeks ago they lost my broilers for a whole extra day too..I have 3 left..Luckily JM hatchery refunded me for the loses. MMH is great, they will make it right for you. Just hate it for those chicks.

Ok, I get to play devil's advocate.... YEAH!!!

I've dealt with local postal systems in a few other countries and at the end of the day, even though I realize ours in the US isn't perfect... it is pretty freakin' solid. Their success rate is actually pretty stellar and once you think about it, it is pretty amazing that they are even willing / able to ship live animals. All my suburban friends are shocked when I tell them they can get live chicks delivered to their door via USPS... they all think you've got to go through some expensive animal courier company.

I totally get peeved when something is lost in the mail and would be pretty bothered if it was a bunch of cute fuzzy butts, but I am thankful that I don't have to drive to a hatchery to pick them up.

Well, MissPrisst hasn't posted since 11:37 a.m. and it's now around 2:00 p.m. so maybe she got a call from the Post Office and she is on her way back home with the little meaties.

Hope it works out and you find them soon.

It's really kind of a scary idea knowing that they don't use tracking numbers for animals. What is to keep a box of 100 meaties disapearing into someone else's hen house then?

As good as most of the hatcheries are to work with, I am sure they would send out replacements, but then it is still a loss to them.

Hope you have them soon. I will be ordering a couple hundred meaties next month, and would really like to hear the outcome because I am planning on ordering from McMurray

Hmmm...we are told often that delaying first class or better (priority, express, etc.) mail is a federal offense. She definitely should end up in prison, according to all we've been told at work.

That's just despicable, IMO. I try to deliver everything, even stupid bulk business mail (i.e junk mail) that no one actually wants, the day that I am given it to deliver even though we technically do not have to deliver BBM that day if we have too much, etc., etc.
