I have about 100 non-chickens in my coop...PICS!

That is what you think. The winter time is when soap solution works best. They soak to their skin and die of hypothermia.

well, the temps dropped to the single digits so I have more starlings in my coop. I have a question, though: how the heck do you catch them to spray them with soap? And wouldn't it just be easier to catch them and kill them LOL? They weren't coming into the coop on the few nights with a higher temp (20F and above) but it's getting pretty darn cold out there. Hubby killed a couple dozen more, but the soap idea is pretty interesting. You gotta wait till it rains, though, right?

Ughhh!!! Sorry to here you have visitors again. I haven't used the soap idea here, we usually get them in smaller flocks and the pellet gun or .22 works for me.

I bet you could load a garden sprayer with soapy water and spray them at night when they're roosting..... Good luck on the ongoing starling removal.

No waiting for rain. Soap solution sits there waiting for rain, etc. Washes oil out and then it is over for the bird. Kittymomma nailed it. A night operation.

Another method would be to relocate the chooks temporarily, close up coop tightly and connect the lawnmower to a hose and pipe in carbon monoxide gas via the exhaust. Just walk out there two hrs later and toss out the dead birds. If coop is well ventilated, may not work too well tho. In that case, would require a truck or car for adequate volume. Even if they do not die, they will be so groggy that you can dispatch them easily.

What about doing a rag or pillow case over the pop door? Chooks can get in and out, but could be a lot harder for starlings. Worth a try? Put it there in AM so they will push thru it to get out, and they learn that they can do so.

you can alway move those electric bug zapper, but take off a layer of those metal wires :] so they birds get better access to a better shocking

I have an idea for the soap..

use one of the pressure pumps you can buy at home deopt for like $10 you pump it to pressurize the can (about 1 gallon container) and just spray.. or fill the weed and feed attachment onto the garden hose and spray away
