I am San Francisco til tomorrow and the streets stink, there are bums on every corner, the food so far has sucked, there is traffic all over the place, there are streets lined with motorcycles. It's too humid and I can't breathe. There are buses of every kind belching diesel smoke all over the place.

On the other hand, if I walk to the other end of the hotel, I can see the bay and bay bridge and not have to smell everything.

Can you explore some other places in the US and send me some tumbleweed?

Do you know that there are people in San Francisco who raise chickens???

See -- you are not so DIFFERENT after all!!!

You need to get out by the Bay, see the water. If you have time you HAVE to take the boat to Alcatraz!! It is a great experience to be on the Bay and the self-guided tour through the old prison is very interesting. PLUS you get to see all the great sights of SF from the water!!

Yes, we are having a little warm spell, but the folks in SF welcome this!! It was Mark Twain that said "the coldest winter I ever spent, was a summer in San Francisco!!". It is usually pretty chilly until September.

I lived in SF for about 5 years. Now I live down the Peninsula (and raise chickens!!).

I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay!!!

DebiRaymond, I completely understand how you feel. We left our little town in the sticks for CA last year, and explored San Francisco. It was COMPLETE CULTURE SHOCK!

There were so many people, and so much traffic. How do people live so close together? You'd hear your neighbor's toilet flush, and you certainly can't raise chickens in your postage stamp backyard.

It really hit me when we were waiting for a light, and saw a man taking his little dog out to do business. He had to walk to the middle of the road, where there was grass for his dog to do business. He had no grass around his house.

No thank you, I like my boondocks.

You could not pay me to go to a city. But be glad other people like to live there or they might end being new neighbors. eek!
