I have eggs missing from under the hen....

ok, I have 2 bantam hens on the nest. one had 7 eggs and one had 8. I go in today to check on them and raise them up and one has 4 and one has 5, exactly 3 eggs missing from under each hen..I would say a snake, but it just seems too strange....no one is going into the hen house because beside those nest was a laying hen with 2 eggs under her. once she lays she goes back out to the run, why wouldn't the snake have gotten those instead??? am I making any sense here??

a snake .i didn t know i had a chicken snake in the pen until i saw the other night ,it was 4 and a half long , no more as i have chicks on the ground

Sometimes the chickens themselves, eat the eggs. I have had them eat every drop and peice of eggs once in a while lol. It is odd that there is 3 missing from each one. Maybe you have and OCD snake or hen?

Ok, so I went to the mountains to pick peaches and came home...immediately after taking the peaches into the house, went into the hen house and sure enough there eas a snake wrapped up in the eaves of the chicken house..still with my 6 eggs in him......

You do realize that this whole thread would be amazing if you took a picture of that snake with the 6 eggs.
