Has anyone suggested calling animal control after you paint the dog? I mean, the paint in your yard and on the dog kinda proveds it was trespassing.

We have scouting friends who lived across the road from some city folks who moved to KY. The locals keep expensive gamefowl. New folks GSD regularly chased the chickens. One night he tore into the flock and killed 3, so the long time residents shot the dog and called the neighbors to get it off his land. They call sheriff and threaten suit. Sheriff warns dog owner "bad idea around here". Long story short - stupid city lady takes chicken owner to court for killing dog. Judge ruled against her, fined her court costs plus the $200 cost of the chickens neighbor had receipts for!

Well I'm glad you shot it...but I would have used something more powerful. My neighbor's dogs would come to my house and literally pull the skin off of my rabbits through the bottom of the cage by pulling their legs through and then skinning them alive..I came home and found rabbits bleeding, in shock and dying....I told the neighbor, he built a cage, the dogs climbed out and did it again. I came home late from work, petted the dogs, went into the house and came out with a 38 snub nose and blew them away and buried them in the woods. Next morning neighbor was calling them for breakfast..I said Good Morning, got in my car and went to work.

It seems as if at least you understood they were dogs being dogs and ended it humanely/appropriately. I hate it when people just want to torture predators....domestic pests are human errors.​

The advice I'm hearing sounds directed towards adults. If we are giving advice to a minor then the age and experience of the recipient needs to be considered. Really, in all the advice we give we need to consider the recipient. If the OP is a minor and acts on the advice we give (s)he could get into some deep doo doo and get the parents/guardians in trouble also.
