I am so thrilled.....after starting with 17 guinea keets to have them dwindle down to just two after a year (mostly hawk attacks and foxes), my 2 smarty pants have become natural parents. ( I call them smarty pants--since they are certainly survivors!) They won't let me get very close to the 1 week old (judging by size) keet---but all seem to be doing well. I also have 15 "teenager" keets running around--but since I moved the pen very close to the house, all are living well--haven't lost any in 2 months. Just thought I'd share my joy!

What a FANTABULOUS pic...thanks for sharing your joy! I loveeeeeeeeeeeeee guineas and have 9 of my own......I lost a mum sitting on her eggs, and was lucky to have a clucky chicken and she became foster mum, now that was more than 30 weeks now and they are still with foster mum, they free range but go to roost every night with mum the chicken and two other chickens and a rooster, who thinks they are his lol lol....Your picture certainly put a smile on my face :) Good luck with the baby

Very cool! :D

You may consider scooping up the baby however. I've had two different "couples" have natural keets this summer. THREE batches. One batch of 15 we left three with the parents and they got killed after mom decided following them around was no fun. She completely started ignoring their peeps and doing her own thing.
The second batch we tried to catch them all and in doing so the momma stepped on one and killed it. :( We got the rest.
I just rounded up a new batch today of three and left just one with the momma to see how she does. THEN it poured today and I wish I'd have gotten it too.
