in my coon experiences I found that if they found a food source, and you remove the source, they will search twice as hard to find another in that area.
I had a coon reach through my wire and kill some chooks. That day I secured the run with harware cloth but did not have time for the duck pen that day and said to myself I hope when he comes back for the chooks and cant get him he doesnt go after the ducks. Now mind you the ducks had shelter and a huge pen and had never been bothered before and had been there for many months.
I was unable to set a trap that night as I was in the process of getting one (this all happened on a sat.) well that very night my fear happened. Unable to get to the chooks the racoon kept searching until he found the ducks. turnes out is was a few coons and the took out 12 ducks that night. The next day electric fencing was put up as well as a lot of other stuff.
my point is if they are there and eating anything in your yard they will continue to and the only way to stop it is to get rid of them, and make your coops and runs secure. oh and you have to remember to lock them up and if not get an electric pop door. Even though they are expensive they probably cost less than your silkies did.
sorry sometimes we have to learn the hard way.
