I have no idea what I am doing

Some reason the site stopped sending me alerts to this thread. Q-Q Though little Lucky is so precious!

Until the duckling gets it's feathers and oils running, it's fluff will soak up the water like a sponge, though as long as you dry little Lucky off after some fun in the water and keep Lucky nice and warm, it is completely fine. Some ducklings have trouble floating in deeper water while others act like little torpedoes, so it is probably best to have a shallow bowl for the baby to paddle around in.

Edit: I have a silkie chick who I think was a duck in it's past life, loving to paddle in water bowls when it is warm out, and one time I walked out to see it sitting in the water trough (A plastic sled I fill with water so they won't run out when they are out) completely at peace. I don't mind much as there's nothing deep enough for the chick to drown in and I am keeping a keen eye on them when they are out. :lau

Edit2: It just started raining... And all but one of my chicks came inside after I baited them with treats. The 'chickling' as I dub it was under a blackberry bush pecking at the water droplets as they fell off the leaf. I had to walk out and manually pick it up and carry it inside. :p
