I have no idea what I am doing

I have just filled my run with shavings where the call ducks are. Every so often I fluff it up with a rake and remove any really nasty wet stuff.. Then sprinkle some new shavings on top. But I also have that smooth rock around the pond area. The big ducks are making quick work of the grass in their area. .I expect to be dumping shavings in their corral very soon :hmm
I just don't know if there is really good way to keep grass in there. But Maybe since there is only two it may work. .
Thank you. My only concern now is finding the sod without fertilizer or chemicals on it. I'm affraid they might get sick

Afternoon friends. We have been so busy here trying to get the yard going again with the nice weather finally. We just planted a couple of vegetable gardens along the exterior of the pen. Each garden has various lettuces cucumbers cabbage broccoli and peas. I'm hoping the peas and cucumbers will grow up along the hardware cloth and give some shade to their outdoor area. We figured once the gardens look established we can let the ducks out to have at all the the fresh veggies at night and weekends. I looked up the good veggies to plant but Just wanted to make sure that the cucumber vines and the pea vines are ok for them to eat as well because I'm hoping they will grow through the hardware cloth too.

I think those plants will be safe, and maybe the ducks won't bother them and they can grow and make shade. Last year I planted green beans (pole variety) along the south side of the chicken run(on the outside) and they grew up and over the top and made quite a bit of shade all summer. Not to mention, we had green beans galore. I protected the plants when small, and when large, the chickens weren't interested in pecking at them or the beans that hung through.

Perfect. That is exactly what I'm hoping for.

Hey all. Is it possbole to successfully relocate a wild duck nest? My neighbor has one in her yard and her dog keeps taking the eggs. They only look like they need another week or so before they hatch but the dog keep taking them and cracks the shell. Bathe eggs she gave me were dead already

If it were me I would keep my dog on a leash to potty him in the yard until the baby ducks leave with mom. A small sacrifice if this is possible for your neighbor?

My second option would be to try and protect the nest with a fence the would exclude the dog and allow the duck in, providing dog and duck are not the same size.
