They are soooo cute!! I am on day 16 with nine eggs in the bator. This is a test hatch so I am really getting excited now. Yours are just beautiful!!

My chicks are from a Rhode Island Red rooster and either a RIR hen OR a Buff Orpington hen - I really don't know... Then hens were laying in the same nest. We'll have to see what they look like as they get older.

The mix should get interesting, as I have maturing Light Brahmas in the mix now - Although I've noticed that the RIR rooster will only cover the RIR and Buff Orp hens, and the Light Brahma rooster only will cover the light Brahma hens. Discrimination? However, my unknown bantam Rooster - Rainbow - pretty much will go after whichever hen he can - much to Big Red's (RIR) dismay. I have really found thier different personalities interesting. Especially Big Red - he has a job to do and he KNOWS it! Maybe the other roos will be this way when they mature - but he is definately quite a responsible protector and peacemaker.
