I HAVE SYMPTOMS!!!! (icky pics...)...UPDATE...post #35

It has to be wet Fowl Pox. The symptoms match exactly. Has to be. CULL! Maybe send a fresh carcass in to your Dept. of Ag for necropsy. You cannot sell these birds or any survivors, so cull them all, clean up ( sanitize), wait & start over.

Dropped off some of the carcasses today at the Dept. of Ag. along with 3 sick live birds for necropsy and blood work (which was quite heartbraking, but if they will save the rest of my flock that is good). Unfortunately all the docs had just gone to lunch when I got there, so I didnt get to talk to anyone. The facility there is amazing and they really know what they are doing, so I have a very good feeling about it. But they said it would be about a week and half before results.

Fattie, that is what I thought at first, but I have only had 3 older birds witht the pox-looking stuff in the throat, while many are sick with symptoms. But what I questioned is that I didnt think that wet pox was associated with sealed watery eyes, sneezing, and fetid nasal discharge. And this flock has already had an outbreak of pox. But we will see, hopefully soon. I am not going to cull anything until I have a definite on what it is.

Hope when you find the answers you post a new topic . A lot of us have been reading this and feeling terrible for you, and waiting to hear results.

That is what I thought initially and I even treated on the birds with the lessions with Metronidazole (Flagyl) which is prescribed for Canker, but she continued to worsen and eventually died...so I question that as well...maybe I just caught her too late?? The other thing is that supposedly Canker is not assocciated with an upper resp. tract problems.

Yesterday 11:07 pm OK, here's my 3rd guess: ILT w/secondary eye (bacterial) infection?

Again, anther good guess. Definitely possible. I was even thinking infectious Coryza. Which would make sense...I think they even get the lessions in the throat occassionally. But like I said, Im not going to do anything until I get results...I dont want to make an irreversable mistake.

I will be sure to post another topic or an "update" on this forum when I get results. In the mean time, Im just hoping that no more of my birds will get too sick to bring them back. Please pray for them!
