Hey all, i posted a few weeks ago about my pullets color. Here HE is at 12 weeks with his misfit crew of first hatch mixed breeds! He is a quirky thing - mom was Silver laced, dad was buff laced. All the other chicks were mixed. Seems my Lester only has eyes for his Opal! Three cheers for personable polish!

Sorry if this has been asked before but are polish roosters aggressive towards other males? I'd like to get a second rooster but I didn't know if they would get along.

My bantam buff laced Polish roosters rule the chicken yard. I would say they are aggressive but don't do any damage. It is hilarious to watch my bantam Polish rooster chase my huge BLRW rooster and he is scared to death of the little guy

Of course Wyandotte roosters are gentle giants. My Ameraucana rooster doesn't let them get away with that.

Just found out my Crele roo in with the ladies is a dud spud. He's been in there for months and I'm only getting 50% fertile eggs. It's a good thing I have 2 others. Should I try adding a roo? There are 12 girls.

my polish has started ya ... she is a white crested polish im pretty sure well thats what they told me .. she is all black with part white part black crest what breed is that ? .. im new to polish

Hey guys, new to Polish (mine are about 5 weeks old right now, and mostly bantam in the following colors: White, Silver Laced, Buff Laced, WC Blue) and I had some breeding questions for going forward.

1) Is the white dominant? The reason I ask is I love White Crested Blue and I only have one and I'm wondering if I breed to an all white polish if I'd have a chance at WC Blue or WC Splash or something? I know I can breed to WC Black and get the blues, but I think the only WC Black I have is a large fowl while the Blue is a bantam and I'm not sure on genders yet for either anyway.

2) Some of mine are bearded some are not (don't worry, not hatchery stock just ended up with both from the chick auction I bought them from) If I breed these together is it an all or nothing thing or will I just get mutts?

3) Ages ago when I was young my 4H Leader said something about feathers growing into the brain and I was never really sure if he was joking or not, what's the scoop? Is it like the fatal gene in Japanese Bantams?

Think that's it for now, I'll post chick pictures when I can get some decent ones taken (They're all at that awkward stage ya know) but I'm surprised even at such a young age how much I'm enjoying their personalities.

Edit: To remove stupid question I found an answer for.

Depends on the age of the new rooster and the size of your run. If it is a juvie you can likely get away with it but not if it is an adult.

Yeah I had planned on raising the new rooster as a chick and since we free range are flock for most of the day from what you said I think it will work out.
