I have to talk POLISH!

My hen Sissy and her male counterpart born at the same time both looked just like that cutie. I think six weeks is just to early to tall with most chicks.

Wonky had a rough start with her foot being crooked, and now she wants to be a house chicken :)

My last hatch was 2 boys and could not tell. If you have males and females, look for differences. I think girls stick more with mom or other girls and boys tend to stand away . Who has rounded feathers in their poof? By 16 weeks, you should see males have some long pointy feathers growing out the middle of their back and starting to hand over the sides.

I've been toying with an idea. I haven't had any male and female hatches lately. I wonder if there's a difference in vent size. I mean females lay eggs, right? I wonder if is worth checking.

At 11 weeks it looks like I have 4 roos and 2 pullets. Darn it all. So far they all are staying, as the little monsters have grown on me.

We're adding on a bachelor pad right now. Hopefully the ones that hatched together will continue to be buddies. If not, I do have a few small coops with runs. My yard is looking like chicken land.....

I know, I had a *boy* year too. Now I have 9 roosters cause I got attached. I had to build more pens to separate them.
I remember photos of your chickens runs and they have a good amount of space and greens. So are you planning on keeping ALL of the roosters ? I am curious how they get along ? It seems that if they grow up together, they learn the pecking order and preserve it for harmony.

Yea, unfortunately, I got attached. The other reason is that I can't give them away or sell them because they are Marek's exposed but vaccinated. So the only way to rehome them is for processing. I think I've come to terms with that. It's sad but they have had quality of life here.
