I have to talk POLISH!

Here's my Maeby Baby, 13wk Buff Laced cockerel. I got him at the feed store as a day old unsexed yellow fluff ball. He's very sweet and is growing into his role as Protecter of the Banties. Does anyone else's Polish roo crow sound like a deranged Joker Cackling? It's hilarious.

Ok so I have 2 polish witch I really loved until my rooster went after me for the first time the other day. After he "ran into my foot" I haven't had anymore issue out if him toward me but today I added a barred Rock to the run and he went after her being so mean he had her bleeding and I had to sperate her. Then I tried to give my polish hen time with some new pullets I plan on adding to the flock (Cochins, duccles and a oeg) but she is tunning around pea king them on the backs and heads. I have had the chicks in the coop in a seperate brooder for about a month now. So they can get used to one another. Today was our first time having them in a open pen together. I stayed baby sat the whole time. Any suggestions on how to get my polish to quit picking on them?

They all need to establish a new pecking order. As long as no one is drawing blood, I let them sort it out. Any bird here that continues to bully, badger, and hurt other birds goes to freezer camp. There are too many sweet birds to put up with a cranky one.

This is Pippy. I hatched her myself out of an egg my hen produced, and I just adore her. She is the sweetest thing and loves to sit on my shoulder.

Right now I have 2 adult polish Roos(1 bearded, 1 non), 1 adult hen, and 16 polish chicks in my brooder, as well 15+ eggs in my incubator. I have another hen that will be joining in 2 weeks, and I can hardly wait!
I love the breed!

I was going to name him Vincent, but I named the little turkey that, so he still doesn't have a name, but he started crowing yesterday. It was a rather pitiful crow...

Alright the best thing to do is with the new batch you are wanting to add in to your flock, dont just toss them in there cause that will deffently cause a fight, cause they are new and disturbing the pecking order.. the best thing is to put them in a cage or in an area that is seperate from your flock, but your clock can get close to them to check them out for a week.. cause exspecially with a rooster when there is a new chicken that joins and they dont know them they will attack, cause in there world its a new creature coming to take over there flock and he will protect his flock.. so if you got like a rabbit cage or a whire cage something or even just build a cage out of chicken wire make a big circle, zip tie it togther then take some more chicken wire or if you have something that you can put over the top of the chicken wire cirle like Plyboard to keep it in.. it will allow your flock to go around and inspect and get to know the chicken, once that week is up let the chicken out with yoru flock, i am going to tell you now.. there will be a bit of fighting that will be a given.. but it shouldnt be that bad.. as the flock has gotten to know the other chicken a bit.. but the flock also has to test it and find out what area in the pecking order it will be in...

that is the best suggestion i can give you, as that is what i do with all my chickens, exspecialy with my mama chickens that hatch there babies in cages when ther broady on me.. but i dont have them sit in a cage for a week cause the flock knows them.. but i have them sit in a cage up to 3 days when i re introduce them to the flock along with all there babies, afew of my hens have fought just cause they were protecting there babies, but usually it is over in like 10 min or less for me.. if you have any other conserns let me know...

Also.. with Polish roosters.. there temperment is a hit or miss kind of thing... some can be sweet as pie, and some can turn.. my main Polish rooster used to be a lover and sleep in my lap till he turned 1.5 years old when puberty fully took on, now he attacks but not that much any more.. as i showed him who is boss and i dont let him push me around, but Polish roosters are known to be aggressive, once they turn it will always be there.. but you can show him that you are not there to hurt him and that you are boss.. pick him up hold him every day for 5-10 min.. if he decides he wants to peck/bite take his head and tuck it behind or under him make sure you pet him and hold him,, talk to him.. cause in a chickens eyes we are a strange creature that is out to get them and kill them, they see the world a way different way

Thanks! I have done the cage thing inside the coop run for sbout 4 weeks now. But my polish hen and rooster are still so mean. And for my rooster well he is a little devil. I have done everything u said. I give him treats pick him up hold him(not for as long) and he still is do mean. He is just so good looking that's the only reason he hasn't been given away or sold yet. My polish hen is a grumpy feisty girl too. So far with my experience with polish I'm not happy with there temperments or personalities. They are so differnt from my sweet laid back Cochins an duccles and oeg.
But the polish are just so pretty.
