She is gorgeous!

I need advice from u experts in polish. I have had a flock of 10 hens and one polish roo n one polish hen. My roo gets beat up bad. His head gets bloody and completely bald in back. We seperate him at nght but it doesn't help much. We also coat his wounds with blukote. Still no luck. We have made the choice to seperate him and the other polish girl to a home of their own. My question is if I order some polish chicks in spring for them to hang with....will polish peck on each other like is happening now or just the.normal pecking?? They also free range just fyi

She is so sweet ,I just fell in love with her the day I brought her home. You can tell the person that gave her to me spoiled her rotten(she was a birthday present)
I think she was held and petted alot as she loves attention.

Mine get along fine together but I don't but two roosters in a pen with the girls. I have also put them in with my silkies in the growout pen with no problem roos included.I think the only problem would be after the chicks grow and then you have to take your time introducing them to the older ones.Don't just throw them together but put them side by side for awhile so they can see each other before putting them together. After a week or two let them free range together for a few days then they should be fine.
I wouldn't put the roo back with those girls as they will kill him one day.

She sounds like so much fun! My Cuckoo girl has been super friendly from the day she hatched. I love this breed!

Maybe your roo isn't old enough for the hens yet. I have a round roo with a mix of girls and he is desparately trying to mate with the. The other roosters (mostly bantams) will tackle him if he gets a girl. Poor guy. None of the girls like him because he is to aggressive. He hasn't figured out the mating deal yet. I tried putting him in with 3 other polish chickens (1 roo, 2 hens) but they proceeded to kick the snot out of him. Nope that didn't work. So, he's out running around hoping to find a single girl with out any roosters noticing.

Is the polish hen beating him up as well? It could be an age think like I said before. If he is new and not standing up for himself that could be a problem. Just try different things to see what works. Good luck.

I haven't seen Polish pick on eachother, I've had 2 roos. I would separate them. Maybe when he gets his roo behavior together, he'll be putting them in their place-at some point. I know my hens were always chasing my Polish girls away, so they hid in the woods all the time. Now they have their own home.
