I have to talk POLISH!

oh... well I am going to have to handle my rooster more haha. He is a bit of a brat but he does settle down. Now another question. He is bearded. Is it a default if you can see a some of his waddles? They are small but visible. You can see in the video.

You know, I'm really not sure. My Polish is a hen...so I don't know as much about roos. My guess, it's not going to be a default, but possibly a points deduction.

When speaking at our last show with a master polish breeder, waddles should not be visible with a beard. You will need to try and breed this out of your birds if they are otherwise show quality. In the meantime, I suggest still showing what you have so you can learn from other breeders and see your competition.

Quote: Juststruttin,
Thanks for posting your Crele pics. The ones in your signature do seem to show some generations that you've gone thru. It's just amazing to see some of the steps. I hope you can discuss more about the positives/negatives you've gone thru to get where you are now. Good going!

Might you be able to post a picture of a bearded and a non bearded cockerel face? I "think" he is supposed to be bearded, but he may not be? I don't know much about polish, I just fell in love with him at a swap.

Okay here we go! Finally got a good picture

"I'm sexy and I know it!"

If he is bearded, his beard is quite small. My hen has a very full beard. Maybe he is beardless? He's so cute though. Love the crest.

Not a fantastic pic of her, and she is quite young in this, but you can see how full her beard is, even though her crest is not very big at that age.

And thank you. That's my mismarked bantam cochin pullet with my polish. I have a variety of breeds. My chicken population just seems to keep growing....lol. They follow me home!

I'm afraid this may happen to me as well at the next show =P

TNBarnQueen - I went back through your posts and saw this rooster of yours:

If you are wanting to breed creles, this is the pattern you are after for Polish. Go more towards red than yellow/buff and you want as much of the red in the saddles as what you see in gold in his hackles in this pic.

The hen in that pic is a buff cuckoo, not crele.

These hens are closer to what you are after:

Select for the cuckoo body and reserve the gold color for the head and hackles.....a little in the breast is ok.
I am so sorry to have confused you. The cuckoo ones are not the creles I am breeding. I have a GL hen and hatched 2 eggs of hers with my crele roo just to see what variation I would get and the girls above was just that. But I really loved their coloration and markings. The roo is one I have shown 2 times and both judges liked him but said I needed more red in the wing feathers. So...my F3s have more red but I haven't taken any pics yet. The next generation after the roo above did have a more improved crest length too. I am going to show him in May to get feedback. There is still a lot of work to do on them. I will try to get some pics for you to see. So far mine have been sex-link I believe. The ones that hatch and develop stripes are always cockerels. If they are red they are hens and have a white dot in their crest when they hatch. When I bought my eggs the person selling them did not disclose they where project eggs. It was a nightmare having been send rotten eggs...detached air sacs. Out of 3 dozen I had only 2 hatch. the roo above and a little red hen which ended up costing me $72 for the pair.. Now....here is what popped up when the pair turned 2 yrs old. I am at my wits end but this diluted color is beautiful! The little pullet is about 3 months in these pics. Like I said...still a few years to go on these. My problem is finding others who have Crele to get new blood to breed to. Seminole has a few of mine but am hoping to buy some eggs from her out of a separate line she has. Do you know of anyone who has them and sells hatching eggs? Thank you so much for your help! I have no problem in opinions because it really helps me to learn more about what my goal should be.

My F2 roo...app 9 months. I am hoping his crest with grow longer as he gets older.

This is one of my F2 pullets. They get a bit of the black in their feathers as they age but primarily stay mostly red.
