I love my polish, they aren't great layers but if you have several hens should get couple eggs everyday. they are not know to be setters but every bird is different, have had broodies out of breeds that weren't supposed to be setters. they do need a secure place to roam if you let them out-they have very large crest so vision is impaired. they can be flighty so need to make sure they stay secured, not know for wanting to be a lap pet BUT all mine are. my daughter makes sure every single bird on our property is spoiled rotten!
they can be able to be penned with other birds BUT if you are mixing them in as adults be ready for them to possibly get there crest and tails plucked. they are quite whimpy so they will be picked on if not careful. I have mixed them in with my other fowl which at first didn't go well but they learned to exist BUT now I have all my polish separate in their own pen. they are my favorite out of everything I have-roosters are just gorgeous! they can be very sweet and wonderful yard art.
LOL- I thought they were not setters, either. But, out of my 6 hens, I wasn't getting eggs anymore. Then, I found this HUGE clutch of eggs that they had been hiding, and taking turns sitting on! -Pam
