I Hit the Eggshell Mother Lode

I wonder if you could line the pot with aluminum foil, then you could just toss it out and not have to scrub anything. Great find Joe!!!

How necessary is it to wash etc the shells? I've just been feeding my chickens cracked shells, not cooked, crushed or anything...whoops!?

Washing necessity? ????????

Heating hot enough to kill salmonella? An absolute necessity if you're interested in safety. I'd think washing and heating especially important when you get them from a restaurant.

Okay, I gotta retract that about washing the eggs. When you have a lot of them like I do, and they're scattered on the kitchen counter to dry, and it's taking forever even with a fan right over them, and your wife wants her counter space back because company's coming today, and you know they're never going to be all dry because some are encased in others even though you tried to smash them all to smithereens, and it's cold on your nearly bald head with the fan running on a cold morning, and...

I AIN'T EVER GONNA WASH A @%^%$ EGG AGAIN! GERMS BE darn!

With pre-apologies to JennsPeeps...Joe, I'm a little disappointed you chose not to reward the McDonalds folks by naming this thread, "I'm Lovin' It"

I only use my own egg shells so I do not wash or bake them. the shells are fed to the chickens as soon as we are finished cooking..

but for those of you who bake them. why not use a large flat pan like a way oversized cookie sheet..
the shells would heat up faster and the water could escape/evaporate much easier than out of a kettle..
