That is so AWESOME! I know who's house I am going to if anything like this happens to my girls! lol. j.k. Being that Texas Star and I are both in San Antonio pretty much in the city I am sure its hard trying to find any Vet around that can do this, so I commend you greatly for what you did! Great job!!!

Let us know if she makes a full recovery.

Way to go! We've never had to do more than sew up one of our GSL pullets after a fox attack. Just wanted to let you know that an aunt, in GA., sewed up two of her hens crops after they had them torn open by a opossum, both survived and lived normally for years afterwards.

All the best!

Being that I am in the Nursing field... you are wrong there.. They make sure the Pen*s is numb before they do what they do. If the Pediatrician does not use anything they have to inform the parents and I am sure no mother would be dumb enough to let the Doc slice without anesthesia. As far as your boys, thats a personal decision but I agree with Weewanona, plus all the other health risks that can happen for not doing it. (not trying to start anything at all, please don't bash me)

Thank you wishin for the Web site to find a avian vet! I did find 1 in San Antonio! I will make sure to save that vets info, even though it might be located a little far for some.

No, actually I am a RN and have assisted in circumcisions and they DON'T numb it. They give tylenol after the procedure. My son is intact and will remain that way while living in my house.

They don't numb here either.

ETA: OP, good for you! I had to drain a chick. It was that or watch it die. Glad I did, never want to choose between opening a crop or culling.
