Congratulations! We're in the same boat since DH lost his job. I am looking hard for full time work, but DH is looking to get his CDL. He wants to drive hazardous materials trucks.

I'm not too keen on that plan, but we gotta do what we gotta do - I can't drive a bus or truck - can't see well enough.

But, congrats to you both and good on hubby for getting his business back up! These are hard times for lots of us, but hard work is the only way out so might as well get to it, right?

Thanks every one! I get to be a sub on Monday an aide on the handicapped bus! I'm excited! I still have 8 more routes to go on before I can drive, but if she really needs us she will pull us!
All our buses are automatic so no double clutching! It was learning the pretrip, and rail road crossings, and what to say. Also drop offs and pick ups and what to say and do! It was insanely rushed!!
We also have 7 in our group, which is more then they normally train at once!

Congratulations! It's a great job. I used to drive cars (no CDL needed) between dealerships along the East Coast. It was so cool. I got to drive all these incredible cars without actually having to pay for one. Instead they paid me!

Best of luck.

And once he passed his test, I bet he never double clutched again. Been driving rigs for 20 years and while learning was only time I double clutched. Congrats on the CDL, best of luck with those kids, I drove bus in Military, and wanted to Kill too many, and figured I would loose it first time some teenager got stupid.

been driving for 21 years, love it, have fun and don't let the kids walk over you, be creative with trouble makers, when I get a fight on my bus they hold hands in the front seat for a week, its only happened once, be fair but firm and you'll do great

Since 911, new regs require a background check which has to be paid for prior to getting hazmat endorsement, and will run over $100 + the cost of license.

Congrats, I know the feeling, I just got my class A last April and now DOT officers like me
