That to me doesn't make any sense.

It said that in 2006 (I couldn't get the 2007 table to open)
only 27% of Americans had a bachelors degree or higher.

Working in academia it is hard for me to imagine that. I really don't mean to sound like an "elitist snob" I just did not realize the number was that low! They must all live here!

How many people on here do NOT have a bachelors degree?

Does anyone know of any figures that contest this data?

No college degree here. I was lucky to finish high school since money was soooo short in my family. My senior year in highschool I worked 45 hours a week at a special ed learning center. College was not even thought of.

But my kids already have college savings accounts. They will have no choice but to go. Whether they want to or not!!!

I don't find it shocking at all. I also don't count a higher education as that much of an advantage in many ways either. I also don't think those in education are the movers and shakers of the world. Education is one thing. Knowledge and wisdom are another.

My step-father was a self made man. Third grade education raised on a dirt poor farm in rural Georgia. He died a millionaire many times over.

Unless you know what to do with it an education means nothing more than the paper the diploma is printed on.

I only finished 1 year of college. I have been in banking for over 25 years and I am a manager. So I guess my experience made up for the degree.
