I just set 5-21-11 in my home made incubator

I wound up just candling often and letting the air cell dictate humidity, It's also very humid here in mid tn. Halfway through incubation I decided my air cells looked too small so I took all the water out of the bator and didn't put anymore in till lockdown. Humidity stayed around 30-40% after that, and all 5 eggs developed fully, 3 hatched on their own, and we took one out. Try dry incubation this time chixntx.

Ok, I finally got my flippin' computer to work again! Uploaded a few pics of my one chickie. I put a beanie baby in the brooder for it to snuggle with, and s/he absolutely loves it!

Look at me! I'm up on a mountain!

i've just set my bator again. this time with RIR bantams, Orp bantams, pekin frizzles and silkie x frizzles. I am soo excited to see what i'll get.

So who else is resetting?

As for humidity, i bought a hydrometer to check mine and it wasn't very accurate but showed tht we're really humid here in Scotland anyway so now i leave it dry until the end and then add some water at lockdown. I get not bad hatch rates. I'm sure i read somewhere that differnt breeds like different humidity too. I just think of the hens, after all they don't have hydrometers etc and they manage to hatch ok. You def need to take account of the local atmosphere, there is no one rule fits all thats for sure.

Good luck with the next lot everyone.

That baby is just the cutest picture i have seen laGeniaLoca

lovely pictures, one of the marrans i hatched had dodgy legs too, you need to get a steristrip on as quick as possible. micropore tape or something simliar will do, just wrap the tape around both legs so the legs are held the correct distance apart. she should be able to walk as long as the tape isn't too wide. It does work but you need to do it sooner rather than later. Good luck

I love that you have just ordered more. I have packed my bator with another 28 already. this is so addictive isn't it.
