I just set my first batch of eggs!! Got first chicks!! pics pg3

Ok I got 9 pips now how long does it take from a pip to hatch? I have been really good and HAVE NOT opened the bator. No zipping just pips and I can hear peeping.

It can take up to 24 hours for them to hatch after pipping. In my hatches so far most of the time they pip and zip in about 12 hours

Well it has been 14 hours since the first pip. It looks like 12 of them have pipped now, one looks like it has started the zip around. I have one that pipped on the big side but near the bottom of the egg instead of the top. Should I not expect that one to make it? I do hope it does. It is only one of the two serama eggs in the bator. Well, bare with me this is awful watching threw that little window waiting and watching and waiting some more.

Today is day 20.

Fisrt chick came as we were sitting down to dinner. My sick son got to see it hatch, he is resting in my room. Second chick came 15 minutes later, which means we ate our dinner cold. We had to watch.

Next newbie question, these chicks are trying to walk everywhere and rolling and moving other eggs around. I can't open bator will the other eggs be ok?

Well my own question got answered. We now have 15 chicks and 6 pips. My advice to anyone is NEVER set up incubator in your bedroom. We didn't get any sleep. Not due to excitment of chicks hatching, due to all the peeping!!! This is me this morning.

i tell ya, i'm worried about my eggs. i'm just 4 hours shy of day 21 and so far out of 8 eggs i only have one pip. that's it! i've had my temps and humidity at good levels....thought i did everything right.....this is my 1st hatch. i just figured more would be going on by now.

chkinut-give it time.

Last week I woke up to 3 pips. Later in day 1 was zipping, and a 4th pipped. That left 2 eggs with nothing.
A 5th pipped, zipped and hatched without us even knowing the afternoon of the next day. Some could just be resting up still.

And lucky you, you got something going on. My 1st hatch I got zilch. 2nd hatch I got 1 out of 9 that made it to lockdown. And that one has a bad leg (hes still with us though), curly toes and walks on hock. Talk about frustrated, disappointed, angry, etc...
3rd hatch was 5/6 and today finished my 4th hatch with 4/4. 10 going on lockdown tomorrow...will candle tonight, but all were good last time.

Anyway, good luck. Be patient! And if all doesnt go well, open them and find out when stopped developing (I would give them till day 25 though). Its a learning experience and there is alot to learn from when all dont hatch.

). i know......i guess i'm just a bit more worried cuz i read that bantam eggs hatch sooner (for the most part).....but then, i've also read where they hatch right on time too. i'll give them all till day 25 as you suggested. the one that's pipped will peep occasionally.....thanks for the info
