It's been a few days since I posted some photos so here are the updates.

I'm still not sure what to think. They are 6 weeks.

SS1 - the comb has gotten bigger, the photos show some pinking.

SS2 - comb growth has slowed or stalled. I don't see much change.

Buff Orp - this one really had me stumped. Does the rump look strange? There is pinking to the comb and wattles.

Argh.....this is painful 😂 @Overo Mare I don't suppose you fancy hazarding a guess now they are over 6 weeks?

Non of them have shown any overt Roo or pullet behaviour. They are all pretty chill, letting us stroke them, using our arms for perches etc. By now our previous Roos have been squaring up to each other and the pullets would become more wary of us.
Pullets!

These little ones are 8 weeks now and I'm curious about the Buff Orp still. She has pecked me a few times when I've put my hand in the nursery coop. I haven't had that with a pullet that I can remember.

Do we still think pullet?

I'll add pictures of the Speckled Sussex's for reference

100% pullet.

I thought I'd give this an update as we are 21 weeks now and in the last few weeks I had noticed some feathers I didn't like the look of but with Christmas, school holidays, work, dark evenings I wasn't seeing them a great deal in the day.

At the beginning of the week I noticed one of the SS had an interesting tail feather. Looking closer at the sibling I thought there were some interesting feathers showing there too. I also started looking closer at the Buff Orpington, this has a barred pattern and I think deep down I had hoped it was the pattern making the feathers look Roo like but boy was this bird growing fast......

And so I popped some photos on and the short version is all 3 have turned out to be.....BOYS! 🤣

I've got 4 roos and 16 pullets/hens so we are going to have to make a decision.

Oh and the buff seems to be a Lemon Cuckoo 🤣

With that much white on that Speckled Sussex and the amount of comb it was showing, I can't believe anyone said pullet. lol I've always found male SS to show a lot of white as chicks. Pullets tend to feather out darker when they are younger.

The Orpington is almost certainly a Lemon Cuckoo. I don't have that particular variety, but that's what it looks like to me.
