We have 10 chickens with an inner hutch and run protected by electric wire, and access to an outdoor fenced run in the daytime. We live in 'animal kingdom' and there are bears, coyotes, bobcats and the occasional cougar! Fortunately we also have 2 labs who are always on the alert . The chickens are all heritage mixed breeds - including three that lay green eggs. Last year I got 4 new Cornish black hens so they are the youngest - only 1 year now, all good layers, Stephanie

Hello Stephanie! Welcome to BYC.
Please visit the "Account" tab and edit in some information and please provide some basic geographic information(at a minimum) as where you live. Something I might think is important(I'm basically in Mexico) or a Canadian might offer you bad advice should you run into any issues going forward, and most posters hate offering worthless advice to newcomers. Trust me here I have seen people from the far north offering advice on how to make an easy bake chicken oven brooder to folks in Puerto Rico based on lack of knowledge on location. As you would expect chicken are brooded a bit different in a location that never drops below 70 degrees vs Fargo, ND in winter.

I realize you are in BC now with this post but won't realize that in any follow on posts. Wishing you the best with your flock!

Welcome again to the flock!:frow
