They'll adjust in a few days. Soon the space will seem too small!

I thought I was going to cry, because I saw your post yesterday about you building the new coop. Plus one of my chics just had all of her back feathers pecked off last night and is isolation for healing.

Shame on you for tricking us,
Have a good day,
Ed

After BikerBabeRules post about losing her flock, I was having a flash of "why the heck did I get back into chickens?"!! I had the same flash when I just read this one! I didn't want to look at your pictures, for fear of the carnage I was about to see!!! Then I got a great laugh out of your post!

Thank goodness you looked around the corner and they were okay! I'm with the crowd that says maybe shrink their space a bit so they aren't as scared as you had us at the beginning of your post!

It scared me too! I had all sorts of visions running through my mind. A fox, hawk, rat, possum, racoon... WHEW!

Don't you hate that feeling of your heart being stuck in your chest and not being able to breathe??? Then, when you finally get your reassurance, from all of the anxiety that you have had, you just cry.

Bless your heart. :aww I'm so happy they were all okay.

I had a scare like that once myself. I went out to lock them up one night shortly after they had gone to live in the coop and did a head count, 2 missing! My DH and I looked for an hour all over the property and when I finally went back into the coop I found them up in the rafters above the door. They had been there all the time but you couldn't see them unless you went in and turned around and looked up. They were looking at me like "what's your problem?" Mine slept all piled up even in the heat of summer until they were several months old. Chickens are funny and we are all crazy.

You had me goin'. I was sitting here swearing that no animal predator got them because there was no mess. I was cussing your dirty rotten chicken stealing no good neighbors. But thanks for the laugh.

I had to look twice at the pile to make sure you hadn't posted a heap of carnage....I was expecting that last pic to be something like, "and the predator left their mangled, torn bodies in a single heap in the corner....." LOL!!!! Glad they weren't missing!!!
