I would recommend that you have any files that you saved anywhere else be scanned for viruses before putting them back on your computer to make sure they are 'clean'. Better safe than back in the same boat in awhile.

Thanks for the good reminder to all of us who are also lax about storing everything in two places. I haven't done that in awhile. I used to be really good about it, and luckily made a CD of all the pics on my old computer. The computer is dead. My pics live on. However, if something happened to this computer today, I would be devastated. Again, thanks for the reminder.

.... hope you get them back..... my computer had 97 viruses and 3 trojans, but the PC doctor managed to save most of the info, so hopefully you will get all yours back...

Can't the computer guys make a copy of what is on there before they remove the viruses?
One idea is to email yourself photos etc if you have an account that can hold a lot of material.
